I just had to post this.

A bike stunt video shot in Edinburgh is wowing audiences around the world, attracting more than 350,000 YouTube hits in its first 40 hours on the site.

Danny MacAskill’s mini film, Inspired Bicycles, was one of YouTube’s most viewed videos on Tuesday.

Originally from the Isle of Skye, the 23-year-old moved to Edinburgh three years ago to practise and now lives on the city’s Leith Walk.

He has been practising several hours a day for the more than 12 years to perfect his incredible skills.

A Twitterer got a real suprise the other day when she was offered a free ticket to see the Adventureland movie she was looking for a copy of to download.

She was Tweeting about trying to find it and Miramax were obviously keeping an eye out for the keywords.

Skype for the iPhone

It’s great that this is now available, but for me, there is a big downside with it – UK customers cannot make Skype calls via 3G and have to be connected to a wireless hotspot

I do intend to buy this and give it a go but wonder how often I use it due to this restriction………..

Canaccord Adams Media Magnate Awards to recognise success

Sky has been named UK Company of the Year at the new Canaccord Adams Media Magnate Awards. In selecting a winner for this category, judges said they were looking to acknowledge the achievements of a successful UK media company of the past twelve months.

They considered factors such as sales, profits and earnings growth, as well as ‘company making’ contracts and transformative acquisitions. Sky was praised for its “quality, originality and popularity”.

There’s been an emergence lately of plugins and tools that help you combine with and link to, all your social networking sites. I was just pointed in the direction of an article over at CIO.com which explains a bit more about 7 of the best ones.

Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are great for keeping in touch, but you can eat up an entire day managing your online social sites faster than you can accumulate “friends” and “followers.” Here’s some free services to help you connect, but that prevent the time sink, so you have times for other things (like work!).

Skype opens up to business phone systems

Some big news this week is about Skype opening up its VoIP system so businesses can hook up their internet-based phone systems to the popular service.

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an open standard that allows calls to be initiated on an IP network and makes it possible to integrate features such as presence, or seeing who is available to take a call, into a VoIP network. On Monday, Skype announced Skype For SIP, which it says will let business customers make low-cost calls to fixed lines and mobile phones around the world, and receive calls from Skype users.
